It would be bad practice to have a healthy eating article without mentioning the superstar of the moment (and Instagram),  the avocado fruit. The popularity of avocados amongst health enthusiasts has reached the point of hysteria . By now, we all know that avocados are healthy but what are the properties of this superfood that make it so beneficial to our health?

For one, they have a high percentage of potassium. Potassium is an essential macro-mineral that is needed on a daily basis to help maintain our bodily functions. Amongst other things, potassium is primarily needed to control fluid balance and has been proven to reduce the risk of strokes. People often do not consume enough potassium day to day, avocados can help lower blood pressure, loss of body mass and lower chances of developing kidney stones.

Avocados are high in fiber. Fiber helps to regulate bowel movements, lower cholesterol levels and control blood sugar levels. Another key benefit is that it helps aid the absorption of nutrients.  Avocados therefore help to maintain bowel health and achieve a healthy weight.

The internet can’t stop singing the praises of this fruit and nor can we! Above were just some of the main benefits of this fantastic superfood.
